Mustafa Skopljak

Mustafa Skopljak (born on the 10th August 1947 in Kotor Varos - Sarajevo, died on the 21st November 2015) was a Bosnian and Herzegovinian sculptor. He finished Secondary art school in Sarajevo in 1970. After that, he entered the Pedagogical Academy, where he graduated from the Art faculty. He entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo after its foundation and graduated in 1977, in the class of professor Alija Kučukalić. He completed the Postgraduate studies in 1988. He has been a member of the Association of Visual Artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1972. Between the year 1993 and 1998 he made puppets, scenes and costumes for puppet shows for the Youth Theatre. Professor Mustafa Skopljak was the head of the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, and he had about 60 solo and 360 group exhibitions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He won many awards and prizes: 1969 - First prize for sculpture at the exhibition of young Yugoslavian people Tjentiste; 1970 - First prize for sculpture at the exhibition of young people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo; 1972 - First prize for sculpture at the 1st May Showroom of young people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo; 1974 - The "Bahrudin Selimanovic" Award for the best performance at the Second May Showroom of young people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo; 1981 - The prize for sculpture "Collegium Artisticum 81", Sarajevo; 1981 - The prize for sculpture at the Third Dubrovnik Showroom, Dubrovnik; 1981 - Award at the First Pancevo Exhibition of Yugoslav sculpture, Pancevo; 1982 - The "Dusan Simic" Award at the exhibition DLU Banja Luka, Banja Luka; 1983 – Redemption Prize of students at the Art Colony "Teslic 83", Teslic; 1984 - The prize for sculpture "Collegium Artisticum" Sarajevo: 1984 - Redemption Prize of the Sarajevo Museum at the "Collegium Artisticum" Sarajevo; 1994 – The A.I.C.A. Award "For witnesses of existence" 1996 - The prize for sculpture at the exhibition ULUBiH of the Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport, Sarajevo; 1998 - "Grand Prix", an exhibition of drawings "98 Mostar", Mostar; 1998 - Painting prize "Collegium Artisticum 98", Sarajevo; 1999 - The prize for sculpture "Collegium Artisticum 99", Sarajevo; 2000 - Painting prize "Thumbnail Biennial 2001", Tuzla; 2001 - The Second prize for the monument of Mirza Delibasic and Davor Popovic, Sarajevo; 2001 - "Grand Prix 05" Art Biennial of Bosnian and Herzegovinian Thumbnail, Tuzla; 2001 - First prize for the performance of sculpture in front of the Dnevni Avaz Building, Sarajevo; 2006 - "Grand Prix 06" Art Biennial of the Bosnian and Herzegovinian Thumbnail, Tuzla; 2006 - "Grand Prix" at the exhibition "Collegium Artisticum" Sarajevo; 2007 - Award for graphics at the exhibition "Collegium Artisticum" Sarajevo; 2007 - Special Charter at the 'White Angel 07 Colony', Prijepolje; 2010 - First prize for painting at the "Annual exhibition of drawings", Mostar; etc. It is important to emphasize that many sculptures from the great artist Mustafa Skopljak, can be found in a variety of parks and institutions in the region of the former Yugoslavia.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contact e-mail (daughter and artist Ira Skopljak) airaskopljak@hotmail.com
