Edvin Granulo
With a few exceptions, I paint from imagination,
creating compositions of concrete blocks, car and plane parts, steel rails, and dismantled electronics.
Exclusively artificial shapes are depicted. The visual repertoire of an urban environment.
The post-apocalyptic atmosphere is underlined by a graphic novel approach in drawing and color alike.
Anti-organic, anti-figural painting. In correlation to the devious priorities set by our society. Object over subject.
The work conforms to an industrialized environment, but addresses it's negative consequences as well.
Drum and bass music – a major influence for me – seems to share this paradox.
The compositions are merged of elements that are often laid out by a 'flow', rather than logical spatial relations. A practice derived from graffiti.
